Why? / «Perché?

17.08.2022

On July 19, the Musei di San Salvatore in Lauro Rome, Italy hosted the charity exhibition “Why? / “Perché?” within the framework of the large-scale project "We and World" of the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation.

The name of the exhibition is associated with the daily questions of millions of Ukrainians about innocence, invasion, injustice, pitiful of actions, as well as with the contrasting "brotherly" enemy consciousness and worldview.

The exposition presented 75 works of painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics by famous Ukrainian artists from different regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson. Because of the war, many artists went to the front, many escaped from the occupation to the western Ukraine, others, who are in relative safety, continue to work actively in their, fortunately, still surviving studios. Each artist exposed in this exhibition donated his work for a noble cause, to help the affected Ukrainians support their invincibility. Each painting, graphics or ceramics art demonstrated the "purified" state of the artist's emotions, pain and faith. Each work declared Ukrainian indifference, resilience and high potential for prosperity.

The accumulated funds will be used to provide prostheses for women who suffered in the war, as well as educational scholarships for displaced children.

The art exhibition “Why? / “Perché?” was supported by the Head of Lviv Regional State/Military Administration and Kozytskyi Charity Foundation.

Curator – Dr. Khrystyna Beregovska, art director of the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation, Doctor of Arts.

Co-curated – Karina Davidova, postgraduate student of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, art researcher.
