Painting The Easter Eggs Projects from Kozytskyi Charity Foundation for Easter in Lviv

19.04.2023

The project "We and World" has been working for almost a year and our main mission is to promote Ukrainian contemporary art in the world. Art is a kind of our cultural "weapon". Information weapons, as well as linguistic and cultural weapons, are critical to Ukraine's victory.

In the pre-Easter week, the project "We and World" of the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation implemented 3 social and artistic projects for painting the Easter eggs:

- for soldiers' children and those who gave their lives for Ukraine;

- for cadets of military universities;

- as well as the military undergoing treatment in the hospital.

For one of the soldiers, Andriy Logur, who who was hospitalised after a severe attack near Bakhmut (where he fought for one day and was seriously wounded), painting a Easter egg helped accelerate his recovery. With a pysanka in hand, he was taken to the operating table. We believe that a successful operation could not have done without “Easter eggs” magic!

For children of war left without their fathers, pysanka means more than just a drawing. This is a family tradition that, unfortunately, not everyone will be able to implement this year.

The first event in the House of Officers of Ukraine was supervised by a Lviv Easter egg master - Yaryna Domanska, who, together with her assistants, taught painting to children.

At the second event, Sofiyka Zelyk, an American Easter egg painter of Ukrainian origin, held an online master class on painting Easter eggs for cadets directly from New York.

The last event took place in the hospital under the supervision of Olena Gronska. Thanks to this, the military personnel undergoing treatment created their first Easter eggs.

Masters who helped the participants took part in the events, in particular: Kateryna Kempa and Nastya Kit, Stanislav Vasyurko and Ustyna Yuzefiv organized the events.

Art can be a powerful weapon against an aggressor, but like the element of water, it can become the beginning of something beautiful and heal those who need it!

All events were organized by the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation.
