Continuing to popularize the contemporary Ukrainian art in the world, on October 13, 2022, the art project "We and World" of the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation initiated the opening of the exhibition project "Resistance" at the Canadian-Ukrainian Art Foundation (Toronto, Canada).
The exhibition expressively presents to the viewer the Ukrainian contemporary art, this time united by the concept of resistance or rebelliousness on the scale of the whole nation and artist's authentic identity as well.
Since the war, on February 24, this is the first comprehensive exhibition of works by Ukrainian artists in Toronto. The main idea of the exhibition project is to pass through the prism of painting and sculptural plasticity the Ukrainian artist’s reflection on current events taking place in Ukraine.
The project involved 20 artists who did not immigrate, but continued to work behind enemy lines, in Lviv. The exposition presents 45 works.
The exhibition is divided into several thematic sets: resistance as a confrontation between children, women, male warriors, nature, cultural heritage, etc. Each work to a certain extent conveys the idea of stubbornness, resistance and irrepressibility of the Ukrainian people against the enemy.
The exhibition is still ongoing, as of today, a third of the works have already been sold.
The accumulated funds will be directed to educational scholarships for students.
Curator of art exhibition project "Resistance” – Dr. Khrystyna Beregovska, art director of the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation, Doctor of Arts.
Location - – Canadian-Ukrainian Art Foundation, 145 Evans Ave., Suite No101, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 5X, Toronto, Canada.
