Exhibition of Contemporary Ukrainian Art "Horses, Cows, Dogs" Opens in Canada

09.11.2024

On November 9, 2024, the Canadian Ukrainian Art Foundation (KUMF) in Toronto unveiled the exhibition "Horses, Cows, Dogs" as part of the "We and World" project. This initiative, supported by the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation, brought together Ukrainian artists who reflect the complex realities of the present through their work.

The exhibition features 24 pieces created during the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, addressing tragic events that have devastated not only human lives but also the natural environment. A particular focus is placed on the aftermath of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station explosion, a painful symbol of loss and ecological harm. Participating artists, including Ihor Nekrakha, Roksolana Deineha, Vova Keno, Anna Vereshchaka, Oleh Dron, Ilona Shymchyts, Olena Sloboda, NOTUKO, Artem Andreichuk, Anastasia Vlasenko, and Taras Haida, present their works in diverse styles that capture their personal experiences and hopes for peace.

Exhibition curator Khrystyna Berehovska, the art director of the Kozytskyi Foundation, emphasized that the goal of the exhibit is to remind audiences of the value of every life—human or animal—and the importance of unity. This message resonates particularly strongly with Canadian audiences, encouraging a deeper understanding of humanity and shared responsibility for our world.

"Horses, Cows, Dogs" is more than an art project. Running until December 1, 2024, it reveals the truth through the lens of art and invites visitors to support Ukraine in its struggle.
