Charity auctions have become a meaningful tradition for us. This spring, we gathered at the ZAG art space for a special event. The charity auction “Havriil” brought together a community of like-minded people for a shared purpose — to raise funds for high-tech prosthetic treatment for Viktor Fedorov, a soldier of the 150th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
A warrior who shielded his comrades during an evacuation, Viktor now requires extensive treatment and recovery after sustaining severe injuries.
The event gained particular significance with the participation of laureates of the National Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine: Dmytro Stus — writer, literary scholar, and Director General of the National Taras Shevchenko Museum (Kyiv); Vasyl Vovkun — theatre director, CEO and Artistic Director of the Lviv National Opera, People’s Artist of Ukraine; Yurii Laniuk — composer, cellist, and professor; Oleh Kryshtopa — journalist and documentary writer; and Ivan Ostafiychuk — artist and graphic designer.
The name of this year’s auction, “Havriil,” carries deep spiritual symbolism. According to the biblical story, Archangel Gabriel was the one who brought the “good news” to the Virgin Mary.
The organizers, including project curator Khrystyna Berehovska — curator and director of the ZAG Gallery — envisioned the auction as a way to deliver that same “good news” to those in need.
Thanks to the collective efforts of donors and guests, Viktor Fedorov will receive advanced high-tech prosthetics and access to professional rehabilitation. This is our shared expression of gratitude for his sacrifice and heroism.
We are also incredibly grateful to share another piece of hopeful news: the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation will allocate UAH 3,300,000 from the funds raised to support the treatment of 7-year-old Bohdanchyk Ilkiv from Brody, who is battling Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The disease is advancing rapidly, and the child’s only chance for survival is the expensive medication Elevidys.
Strength and support for Viktor Fedorov, and hope for Bohdanchyk Ilkiv — these are the outcomes of the “Havriil” charity auction.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, the business community, patrons, and private donors for their determination and generosity. We deeply admire your noble commitment to helping others. Today, the boldest dreams of those we came together to support have a real chance of becoming reality!
